He sat perfectly still. She giggled at the appearance of the flowers entwined in a crown on his head. She fixed the last small daisy into place and sat back. He looked up at her and she giggled some more at the sight of him. The crickets filled the air and the dry grass scratched at their legs as they sat, hidden together in the meadow. This was their world for the moment and no one could touch them. Her hair was tangled and whipped across her face gently in the breeze. Her shoes were scuffed and there was dirt under her nails. He took a blade of grass and nibbled on the end, watching her fall back in a relaxed joy, pressing the tall grass flat around her. This was the first moment he knew he was in love.
